Out of controll dail-up

I cannot control my dail-up connection after it is connected. When I
click on the desktop icon, the "status" category is not highlighted so
I cannot click on it. I cannot get the dail-up icon to appear in my
taskbar. The only way to disconnect from the internet is to shut down
the computer. The taskbar IS unlocked. The box in the properties
section of the dail-up window for showing the icon IS checked. Can
anyone tell me whats going on?

What version of windows are you using? Have you opened control panel
and looked in "Network Connections" (if you are using 2k or xp)?

I have XP profesional. I have been in "My network places" and I have
the same problem there, when I right click on the icon the status
button is not highlighted so I cannot click on it. The delete button
is not highlighted either. I’m thinking of just starting a new
connection and seeing if that works.

Who is your ISP? Yes, creating a nw connection sounds like a good
place to start.
