OT: where do my newsgroup posts go?

R

Rod

I have had a devil of a job to secure a good news server,
I paid for Tera News
now they seem to have disappeared.

I post an email to my hobby group,
my OE shows it as being "sent"

but it never appears in the Newsgroup.

Is there some "poste restante" in the sky somewhere?

I now paid for "usenetmonster"
and suddenly you get a message after
you sign up
"you cannot post messages until you download
at least 2 Gb"

Nice to get after you have paid up!

That can't be right! From Usenetmonster's Terms of Service:

"We make no attempt to filter, censor, control, or regulate the flow of
data, programs, software, graphical images, animations, merchandise, etc.,
on the internet to or from any of its customers or any other provider or
internet user."

Maybe it's to keep out the Usenet spammers.

You can post to and read the microsoft.public.* newsgroups by pointing
your newsreader at msnews.microsoft.com. No login is needed.

Astraweb http://news.astraweb.com has a pay-by-download option that is
very good value. And you can post right away.

BTW I have requested the removal of the restraint
24 hrs later I am still waiting

Verbatim:
Due to spammers we are now enforcing a new posting policy.
Each account must download 2 (two) gigs before you can
enable posting. To date, you have downloaded 0.00001 gigs.
Once you have downloaded at least two gigs a check box will
appear below that will allow you to enable posting. If you need
to post before you have downloaded two gigs please send an
email to (e-mail address removed) and request that your
posting be turned on. We WILL NOT accept these requests
from free email addresses. Nor will we accept requests that
come through a proxy service or anonymizer.

Thank You For Your Understanding

Rod,

You can access these newsgroups directly at msnews.microsoft.com .
Anando

Anando,
microsoft ng have never been a problem,
I am just a simple stamp collector and enjoy
my own particular NG
Finding a news supplier under $10 a month
for just a few simple ng postings
is becoming impossible

If you only want fairly limited text-only access (no binaries), try
aioe.org for a free usenet server. If you want to post pictures of stamps,
you can put them up on some free web hosting site and post the URL to that.

Thanks for your generosity "a"
Just a pure fluke, I have nabbed a link via
the behemoth "Telstra" in Australia

It looks like I can post messages
so I am holding my breath.

I'll keep your advice on record, in case of hiccups.
Rodney

BTW I do use your advice and employ a free host site
for my stamp images from France
It holds my image for 30 days IIRC which is ideal.
