(OT) Spam question?

X

Xeno Chauvin

Outside of my having a bad provider, perhaps, how is it
I receive spam that is in NO WAY addressed to me?
When I check properties/message details I cannot find
my name anywhere. I do find a name @ my same provider but NOT MY name.
Since my spam as increased 1000% in the last week
I am concerned.

BCC

some other poor sod in the 'To:' field
loads more in the BCC - so you never see them.

If it's getting to be a real problem have a look at Robin Keir's K9

http://www.keir.net/k9.html

One message rule shifts all the tagged spam straight to your 'Deleted
Items' folder. Currently autodumping 98% of my spam with zero false
positives.

They use BCC, blind carbon copy, which doesn't pass on to you the
email addresses the spam is sent to.

You might also like,"Poptray",
http://www.poptray.org/

as it allows multiple account filtering and checking before mail gets
to the system :)
