OT: Nero and read write attribute

T

Tranz

Off topic I know, but is there
someone familiar with Nero Burning CD Rom?

Whenever I burn some picture or txt files
and then copy them back to my hard drive
they are all set with read write attributes.
I know I can change this in each folder's properties...

Is there some setting in Nero which
will remove the read write attribute *before* I burn?

 Any help or advice appreciated.

Yes, because you copied them off a read-only medium (CD).
You have to mark them as read/write manually, but if you
have Windows XP it will do it automatically.

Thanks Paul
Don't have XP
Using:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Version: 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4

Looks like I have to do it manually... :-((

if you use incd, yes
for write once cds: you are stuffed (a result of the very principles of cd
use, i presume)

Nature of the beast.

Fix:

"Clear Readonly" makes it easy to clear the read-only flag on entire
folders and subfolders. It really annoying when you copy files from CD-ROM
and they are copied as read-only. Just right-click the folder and choose
'Clear Read Only flag' from the Context Menu.
1Kb (yes! 1Kb!) on my WinUtils1 page or HERE:
http://www.crystalsoftware.com.au/readonly.zip (don't blink :^) )

I Use It.

Cheers!

That's fine for Win 95/98, but from Win ME onwards you don't need an
app to do it -- just right-click the folder, select Properties, untick
"Read-Only" and hit "OK" (making sure that you choose "Apply to all
sub-folders" too).

I just started seeing this thread so my question may already be answered.

Is there a utility that will wrtie each file attribute to a disk file so
that I can use them to reset all of the attributes after reloading a hard
drive from a Nero CD?

Thanks for any pointers.

X-No-Archive: yes

Not only that, any file copied from a CD using Explorer will have the
read-only attribute set which has to be removed manually.

If you use freeware Servant Salamander, a dual panel Explorer
replacement, to do the copying you can set the option to remove the
attribute automatically. It is very handy.

I downloaded and have been using ver 1.52 years back and so I do not
have the URI.Search Google.
