I think more info is needed about: your version of Nero and which Nero
app you're using, the exact error message you get, and the nature/size
of your ISO. Is it a DVD movie/video you're burning, an application,
etc? Also, I'm assuming the blank DVD you tried isn't bad?

Not all ISO's are alike, and not all DVD burners can do all ISO's. You
may also need to do a diagnostic on your ISO file as well, as there
could be a problem there, corrupted, etc At this point, I'd recommend
trying another DVD burner that can do ISO's. Also, it'd probably be a
good idea, if you want to spring for them, to use rewriteable DVD's so
you won't be making a bunch of coasters as you try out apps.

Normally, I would suggest CDBurnerXP [works on Win9x as well], which
does an excellent job burning ISO's, but don't think it does DVD ISO's.
http://www.cdburnerxp.se/features.php

I *think* BurnAtOnce [freeware] does DVD ISO's, but you need a freeware
[for private,educational/research] addon, ProDVD:
http://www.burnatonce.com/index.htm?faq
I've never used BurnAtOnce for DVD ISO's, however.

An *excellent* freeware to try is DVD Decrypter to burn your ISO.
Here's a tutorial that shows you how, directly from your ISO file.
Tutorial also illustrates using freeware prog Folder2ISO [you've
already got this part, sounds like]:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burn_dvd_folder_dvd_decrypter.cfm

Here's another tutorial:
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdburn/

I'd also recommend checking out www.videohelp.com for more excellent
tutorials, etc on ISO burning. It'll give you some tips, specializing
obviously in burning video files, but the same general principles
apply.

www.videohelp.com also has an interesting comparison between Nero,
ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter, specifically for burning video, but some of
the same ideas can apply to burning other sorts of files.
http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=258338

Too, you can use a tool such as the freeware/shareware tool ISOBuster,
to see what's in your ISO, extract, etc.
www.isobuster.com
Though I've never used it, I've heard that the freeware TugZip also
does a good job extracting ISO's.
http://www.tugzip.com/

Once you successfully extract your files, then Nero or whatever DVD
burner you choose might stand a better chance of burning your DVD.

Most of the above sites also have user forums where you might get more
help by posting your query there, or searching for others with similar
Nero/ISO burning issues.

There are quite a few tools for burning or working with ISO files, as
you can see from doing this Google search for freeware DVD ISO burners,
& also check a.c.freeware for recommendations via groups.google.com.
Some, of course, are better than others, a few come with unwanted
ad-ware, etc.

hello,

Thanks for the very detailed info.

My Nero is the one that comes with my DVD burner. I think version 6.xx
something.

the ISO is actually an exe installer file. I don't know how to check that
iso file is not corrupted?

I will try to download some other burner and test it ...

thanks you

It is telling you that the media - the blank disc - is unsuitable.

Did you mistakenly put in a CD rather than DVD disc? If it is a DVD, it
might be helpful to know what kind...DVD+, DVD-, etc.

Actually an 80 minute CD is ~800mb and will hold an 800mb image file
without problems. Error correction takes up the other 100mb. To burn an
image in Nero 6 put your CD in the drive then Recorder--> Burn Image. And
navigate to your iso. FWIW, I burn 800mb image files most every day.

Somewhere in the Nero-options you can change the allowed maximum-size. You
still will get a warning message but now you can burn the big ones. on cd.

I'm having the same problem on the HP PC, with both DVD+ and DVD- RW's
CD's work fine though, so it's very frustrating. I was glad to find this
post as it was quite timely with my questions.

Have you checked so that the make (brand) of your DVD disc is compatible
with your DVD burner?

Perhaps the iso is for a CD, and you should use a blank CD to burn
to.
Also in Nero you should select (on the first Nero Express screen) at
the top right of the screen it asks "which recorder would you like
to use" with a pull down menu, click on this, it will have:

your-DVD-burners-name [DVD]
and
your-DVD-burners-name [CD R/RW]

Choose the latter for CD iso's and CD media in general.

Hello guys,

But as i have mentioned it is bigger than a CD somthing over 820 mb ... that
is why CD size can't fit it
My DVD writer is working fine for other stuff with the same DVDs ...

Have you tried to write to CD???

There's often a *lot* of overhead in an ISO file - the image still fits on a
standard CD...

A

Annie

I have already mentioned dear ;-)
.... CD works however, it raises error as the size is not fitting!

You could try burning with 90 min. (800 MB data) or 99 min. (900 MB data)
CD-R.

You'll have to tell Nero to allow overburning. Here's how it's done on
Nero 6.6:
File-->Prefrences-->Expert Features
Then tic "Enable Disc-at-once CD overburning" and put a value in like 90
minutes or so.

let me know if that helps

Duddits - I think you are correct. It is an overburning issue. To
Annie: additional help can be found in the BurnAtOnce forums and here:
http://www.burnatonce.com/forums/index.php?act=Print&client=printer&f=4&t=1189

And more specifically, here:
http://www.burnatonce.com/index.htm?http://www.burnatonce.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=1189

If directly above url doesn't work, it spans across two lines and
includes two html://'s then just try from the second http:// on and
paste that in as a link.
Hey, wait -- this is Duddit's post from burnatonce... small world!

The other message from burnatonce site: replier posted this as reply to
your error message:
"burnatonce can't copy dvd on the fly "
Sorry, but I've not seen this error in BurnAtOnce, so can't help more.

You may also want to try extracting the files from your ISO, assuming
it's not like one big video or something. For this you can use
ISOBuster [shareware/freeware with limited functions, but *think*
should extract OK], or try a freeware archiver that extracts ISO, like
TugZip or ALZip. Once you extract the files you *may* be able to find
out what the problem is. Hopefully, any errors in the ISO will show up
then.

After you extract the ISO's you could then try burning the files
separately to the CD, but still keep the original ISO just in case,
since you may well have paths, etc to keep structured correctly.

On balance, though, I really think Duddits has answered your problem --
adjust the overburning and let's hope it works!

Try Alcohol 120% (iso maker/burner/mounter). It isn't free but the
trial works, limiting only the number of virtual drives that can be
created from 31 to 6.
