I seem to have lost the ability to reply to any message that I have
"starred" for tracking. If I open a recent message from the board,
there is a "reply" option at the end, but not on any of the messages I
have starred.

It could be that the last message in the thread is mine, but I have
replied to my own meesage before to clarify and it worked then. I'm
stumped...

Ideas?

Thanks!

PS: If I don't reply, your suggestion didn't work :)

Hi Roscoe,
If I understand you correctly, Google does not provide a means
of replying to older messages -- say older than five days. That
would be one way of enforcing netiquette. You should not be
replying to old messages. Where you draw the line at what is
too old is subject to interpretation. Certainly 3 months would
be considered by most to be too old because such messages
are usually dropped by then from newsservers.

But I'm not aware of Google doing that because I've seen a lot of
replies through Google to very old threads and the reason why we
can't see the original question in the actual newsgroups with a
newsgroup reader like Outlook Express that is reading what is
on the newsserver as opposed to archived messages.

Sometime an email reply would at least help the original poster
even if too late to add to a thread.

If you really want to work best with newsgroups you would
connect directly to the microsoft newsgroup with a newsgroup
reader.

Unfortunately you are on a Corporate system and
have to work from behind a corporate firewall so Google is
probably one of your best choices using web based access.
You should not have to put up with advertising on whatever
you choose, watch out for so called "forums" that mask that
you are really using newsgroups (and that really mess up
web searches by forcing Google web page searches to
include archived newsgroup posts).

Thanks, I did find burried in the Google groups rules that messages
older than "X" days could not be replied to. Nuisance but dems da
rules.
