| Firefox and Thunderbird are on Mozilla.org server: news.mozilla.org
| They are subgroups listed under: Mozilla.support.

Right you are, Motor T. Another dumb case of overlookin the obvious for me.

Good info again, Daave. Binaries not much of a loss for me. Thanks.

|
| Not really. You would need to Google for open servers; I see some have
| already posted links. But for binaries, you would more than likely need
| to pay for that service. Eternal September is great for text only,
| though.

I googled first.

| Short answer is Yes. Google is your friend.

I've been using Teranews, already mentioned in this thread, for several
years now with no problems. There's a one-time signup fee and a stated
50 mb per day limit on the free server -- certainly not a problem for
non-binaries. They won't cut you off if you go over the limit a bit, but
you may not be able to access the service for a couple of days depending
on how much over you are.

I haven't noticed any inconsistencies in service with Teranews other
than an occasional connection dropout with automatic resumption a few
seconds later.

http://www.newsgroupreviews.com/teranews.html gives a Teranews profile.

OK, Bill. I'm set now with Eternal September - just liked the name.
