OT: best slick optical mousing surface

Today I bought a premium nonstick surface cookie sheet for my first
optical/laser mouse. The optical mouse is slightly heavier than my
prior ball mouse, but on the cookie sheet it glides much more easily
than the old mouse on a regular mouse pad. Me like. Your mileage may
vary.

Any other very smooth operating optical mousing surfaces, store
bought or modified by you?

I just use the surface of the desk that my computer is on. Some kind of fake
woodgrain plastic laminate.

Slides just fine.

I do too but I have come to the realisation that I need a mouse mat as
my desk surface is going to get worn down over time if I keep using
the desk surface.

I don't get it.

You obviously haven't seen Invader Zim.

Wouldn't GIR's buttocks be too shiny so make a good mousing surface?

No good for a serious mouse user.

I hope it does not take much of your intelligence to realize that
your mousing surface has much to do with your mouse performance.

That is assuming your mouse can handle the best mousing surfaces.

My MX1000 laser mouse operates perfectly on apparently just about
any surface, so far that includes two different Teflon surfaces. I
am enjoying a major performance increase provided by the Teflon.
It is smooth as silk.

No, a poster who plays with the idea that mispelling a word so that it
looks like they're talking about a cute little robot from a cartoon is
funny.

In case you need it spelled out, GIR is the cute robot sidekick on the
Nickelodeon cartoon, "Invader Zim".

We now return to our regularly scheduled thread, already in progress.

Please describe your Teflon mouse pad. That sounds very interesting.

The best I've found so far is leather. I have a medium/light tanned
leather one that I bought from a guy on eBay. I love it, but will get a
tad sticky in these hot and humid days.

Wilton Ultra-Bake cookie sheet. It is way too large. The Teflon
surface is glassy smooth.

I think Teflon is the way to go. I need to either find a smaller
Teflon baking device or cut one to size. Maybe putting Teflon tape
on the mouse feet will help too, planning to try that soon. I want
the ultimate slick/smooth mousing surface.

I want a combination that moves like a well weighted and felted
chess piece on a chess board. Speaking of, perhaps felt mouse feet
would be worth a try. Whatever.

Unless I see something better between now and then, I plan on
doing a serious shopping trip for a better Teflon pan, soon. There
are many Teflon coated skillets which are the right size and very
shallow. I take the mouse to the store and try it out.

You could try and see how it tracks on some Teflon pan at home. I do
not know the limitations of common optical mice, never used one.

Have fun.

I have invested in a few different brands of "mouse skates/z" telflon sticky
pads for mice. I would recommend NOT getting the Xtrac EELS "Mouse Movement
Enhancer" but instead the Zero Friction "Professional Mouseskates". (Newegg.com
has them.. call to have the shipping adjusted though(!) )

Thanks. Do you use them on an ordinary mouse pad? What surface?

There are also Teflon sheets which can be purchased, at least
online.

I happen to have an old mouse pad, one of the first ones to market before there
even was a whole market for them. I have a black RATPADZ mouse surface. Their
first version. Looks like they are still around and have a new line now though:

Combined with the telfen sticky pads from newegg, my MX510 mouse floats around
like I'm on ice.

OK, I tried a 15 yo girls buttocks for a mouse pad, but even after tanning
the skin and stretching it over a marble tile it didn't give a good surface.
I made her put lotion on her skin everyday to keep her skin smooth, what
else would you suggest?
