OT: AVG and Adaware

Has anyone else experienced an AVG virus detected pop-up when running an Adaware scan (virus detected Temp/AAWtmp/etc/etc.

I don't know if this is just me, or if this is a conflict of the two applications when the latest updates are installed as its been fine up to now.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Dave.

To the best of my knowledge, ANY scan is best done without any other
application running in the background.

Why would you need AVG running whilst doing a scan with Ad-Aware ? Maybe
I do it wrong .... I disconnect from the internet, shut down all running
processes and then scan.

I Have always run Adaware with AVG running and never had this before.

Just ran a Adaware scan (with current definition files) with AVG running in
the background and there were *no* problems. Maybe worth your noting the
names of the "viruses" that AVG is detecting and putting them into Google to
get more info?

Does it tell you the name of the Virus? Have you run a full Scan of all
files with AVG?

I have AD-Adware se with definition file SE1R40 20.04.2005. I run a scan
on 22.04.2005 with AVG 7.0.300 266.10.2 4/21/2005 running and had no
problems . This is on W2K SP4.

If all the AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware software can't co-exist
together then what is the point? If your your AV is configured to scan a
file when it is accessed then an infected file will be flagged when a
Spyware Scan is run, sorta like a double check. Better to be Safe then
Infected.

Yes, I have seen this behavior, there is no conflict. Ad-aware reads a file
with a virus in it and AVG pops up, that what its supposed to do.

And if you have a virus inside a zip file, ad-aware will open it and with no
antivirus, you will not find the virus.

Better to run them together.
