I have reimaged a dell pc that may have had both windows
2000 pro and windows xp pro on the hard drive. I did not
know the status of the pc before I formatted the hard
drive and reinstalled windows 2000. After reimaging the
hard drive and rebooting a screen came up for me to
select either windows 2ooo or xp to boot into. If I
formatted the hard drive wiping it clean then why does
the pc indicate that it still has windows xp on it's hard
drive. Thanks for any assistance

Obviously you didn't format the hard drive, or you copied
the boot.ini file back to the drive.

To fix: Edit the boot.ini file to remove reference to
Windows XP (make a backup first, just in case)
You can then delete the directory that Windows XP is in
(if still present.)

Note: The boot.ini file is a hidden file, and you may
have to go to Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->View and
uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

I assume you reimaged using the supplied recovery CD ?

This may have had an option to select the operating system,
are both installed ?
