OS Will not install

attempting to install win95 osr2 on the following system
p 166 64 meg ram 850 mb HD
have used this box heaps but it wont do anything now
this is the scenario
boot from floppy
format C: /s
cd e: [cd rom]
setup
setup begins...does the scandisk and then goes to the copying files
needed for windows and the first windows screen loads but the whole
screen doesnt draw properly [the first dialogue box is blank] and then
it hangs...alt ctrl del not working neither is reset working
i am a bit stumped and any tips most appreciated

Could be a memory problem.

Try running memtest86. Find with Google.

Check your Bios settings and see if you have boot sector virus protection
enabled, if so, disable it until you have installed Windows.

next i copied the win95 folder from atapi cdr to c:\win95
cd'd into c:win95 and ran setup....exactly the same thing only jsut
the blue win95 blue splash screen and windows 9 and that ...it draws
half of the 5....so it is cut off in mid stream by a severe hardware
error ....checked the ram with tuff pro and is ok
will check hd next

Yes, this could be it. You could also Fdisk /mbr, this renews the Master
Boot Record if it has been damaged.
