Organizing incoming e-mail using color

I am using Outlook 2003 and have set up conditional formating of incoming
e-mail using the Organized by color feture. E-mails from users with the same
last name or the same first name are being assigned the same color even
though they are defined to use a different color. How do I make Outlook
differentiate between these senders? It seems to happen with internal e-mail
so the SMTP address for these users is different by only one letter.

I tried using single quotes, then double quotes as well as using the whole
SMTP address however, Outlook will not differentiate between similar users.
