I have a 2000 Advanced Server which I want to connect to remotely via XPs
(SP1,SP2). The server will also be a DC, which the XPs will logon to. In
addition, I want to share out (map to) folders on the server (which will be
available Offline), and do this all under the security of a VPN...

The Offline and mapping can easily be setup to occur during logon, but I do
not see an easy way to also establish the VPN connection during logon. Thus,
I would like to ask for some ideas on how to do this.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

On the XP machine, at the Logon screen, click Options and check the box for
Log on using
dial-up connection - the VPN connection is a dial-up connection for this
purpose regardless of how you connect.

Bingo, that did it. I thought it was something simple I was missing, as I
could not find any discussions on the issue.

Now that I have that solved (and this is probably something else I am
missing) - how would I get the logon to default/force the use of "Log on
using dial-up connection", for certain users? I thought there would be a
policy for that switch, but I can't find it.

Thanks again,
Tom
