Options have vanished without a trace....

I had recently noticed that my screensaver, and desktop background options
were missing. I can choose a picture and assign it to background however the
tab in the properties section is missing as well is the screensaver
one.......anyone have any ideas?

Try this:

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Look in the right pane for a value called NoDispBackgroundPage. Change its
value to 0 (double click NoDispBackgroundPage). Do the same to
NoDispScrSavPage. Or you can right click the entries and select Delete.This
has the same effect as setting it to 0.

It happened because you were infected with malware. Perform scans if you
have not yet.
