options from menus when right-clicking them

when I right click my desktop to make a new folder I noticed some dead icons in the same list, icons from programs I un-installed a while back, the list seems to get bigger and I have no idea how to remove these unsightly things, or is it just something I have to live with?

Download TweakUI:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
Goto Templates tab in TweakUI and remove the Shellnew entries there.
