operation can not be completed

My deskjet 882c work fine for the last few months with XP.
Yesterday, I went to print something and it said cannot
find printer. When I went to add printer, an error came
up "operation can not be completed". I've tried
installing software and it wont install. Says it
encountered a problem. Device manager is ok as are all
connections. Any ideas? Thanks.

Rick I've had the same problem and have been working for
days to fix it. I have a deskjet that has worked on XP
for 2 years and suddenly the same thing happened. Scroll
forward and you will see the things I've tried. I
thought it was the mblast virus but when I ran the
removal program from symantec it told me I didn't have
that virus. If you find a solution, please let me know
too. I will do the same. Thanks, Sharon

It seems to be an issue that MS doesn't know how to fix.
I've had the same problem for months and I thought it was
the printer, but today I got a new one and it does the
same thing (yes, different brand). Neither USB nor LPT
will work. Hopefully someone knows what's up...
