Internet explorer/Firefox
I don’t know what happened all of sudden. I tried to reboot my system after
it did’ nt turn off properly. Now it says operating system not found.
I checked bios and under primary slave and primary master it says none.
I do not see my hard drive. How do i fix this problem

Well, now you done it! :)
Try holding F8 key on start up which will bring up a menu in safe mode.
Scroll up to "load last good configuration" It should fix the problem. If
not, then you must remove Service pack 2 first, then re-install XP with the
original CD. Won't work unless you do it in this order.

If the drive(s) don't show up in your BIOS then it sounds like a hardware
problem. Could be the hard drive is toast. However it could also be that the
ribbon connector on the back of the drive or on the motherboard is loose.
You could try reseating them. Check the power leads too. If none of that
works try another hard drive (borrow one?). If another HD works (shows up in
BIOS) then your drive is dead.

Well, until your BIOS recognizes the hard drive, WinXP certainly can't
load. You have a hardware failure. It could be either the motherboard,
or the hard drive, based on what little information you've provided.
Try a new hard drive, first.

How is that going to work when his BIOS doesn't even recognize the
presence of a hard drive? He has a hardware failure.

Hi,

I have Windows XP pro, SP2. I was trying to setup a dual boot of my system,
and went into system setup and stupidly changed what my primary harddrive
was. So now when I boot up I recieve an error saying primary drive not
found. After this I try to get into the setup but it wont let me get in to
it to change the settings. After this it will allow me to boot up into
windows after this. I just need to find out how to get into the system setup
again so I don't get this stupid error everytime I boot up. Other than that
I am running fine. Any advice?
