OpenOffice - still having problems...

I posted before on some trouble/s with OO, but I thought it best to post a
separate/new topic so as not to confuse isues.

I seem to have installation problems and I've tried the install>repair
selection, and also doing a complete uninstall & reinstall - but the
difficulties just return.

After I have installed I may get good results on test launching all the
apps, but then for an unknown and unexpected reason, suddenly, none of them
will launch and I get error messages.

The installation program is pretty straightforward and the only selection it
asks you to
make is if you have Java installed and want to activate it - I select No, as
I dont have it (or at least I dont think so) but this shouldnt make a
difference - right ?

I dont have any other programs running that could cause a conflict , I dont
think. What could be causing the error messages ?
