opening Word doc sent as docx

I have Windows XP, Word 2003. I've been sent a Word doc that ends .docx -
created in the Vista system. How can I open it?

You can download the Compatibility Pack from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en
and install it.

Or you can ask the sender to save the document in the Word 97-2003 format
and send that instead. (If they don't know how, tell them to click the
Office button, hover the mouse over the Save As item, and click the Word
97-2003 Document item.)

There is a compatibility pack you can install on your computer, if you want.
Many of us think it's rude to expect others to install something to be able
to access a file when they could have saved it as a .doc file in the first
place.
