Hi

I have a document sent to me in Word 2007, I have Word 2003 on my machine.
When I try to open it I get the msg "This is a pre-release version of the
compatibiltiy pack , do you want to check for a newer version"

If I click OK it takes me to the compatibiltiy pack on Microsoft's website
that I already have and so the loop begins.

I have downloaded all updates and checked the systen requirements and
everything matches, but still I get this message.

I know the user could save it in Word 2007 as a Word 2003 document but I
feel that I am going to be coming across this problem more and more.

Can anyone advise.

Thanks

It's the "pre-release part" that's the killer. the compatibility pack only
works for the released version. You have to contact the file'ss originator
and ask them to do a save as. And since the beta will expire this weekend,
if memory serves me correctly, NOW is the time to do this.

Oh yeah - and I'm seriously thinking about not being anywhere near a
computer on Sunday.
