Opening Word 2003/2007 Documents

Dana

I have Microsoft Vista with Microsoft Works. Everytime I try to open a
Microsoft Word document it seems to open in Notepad (and all of the words are
gibberish) Can I open Word 2003 / 2007 documents in Vista without having
Office dowloaded on my computer. Is there some sort of converter I can
dowload and use? If so will it support 2000 (if people are still using)
along with 2003 and 2007?

Thank you for any help!

There is a Word viewer at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...88-7CFA-457A-9AEC-F4F827F20CAC&DisplayLang=en.
This allows you to open documents from Word 2003 and earlier. Together with
the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007
File Formats from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en,
you can use it to open Word 2007 docs as well. Note that there's also a
service pack for the Compatibility Pack. A lot of downloads, but in
combination, they should do what you need.
