Opening video file closes windows explorer

I find that periodically when I open my Videos folder, a get a message saying
that windows explorer has encountered an error and has to shut down. When
explorer starts again, I try to open the same folder and it is ok. Any idea
what is happening here?

Additional info: when I looked at what was going to be sent to Microsoft, I
think the problem is in the ntdll.dll module.
