opening registry

I have the spybot worm and need to edit my registry.
Every time I try to run the "regedit" the window only
stays open for a flash. There must be something else I
need to do first? help please.

Hi Jeff,

Try going to Start | Run and typing 'command.com' and hitting enter. You'll
get a command prompt. Type 'cd \' and hit enter. Then type 'cd windows'
and hit enter. Then type 'ren regedit.exe regedit.com' and hit enter. Then
go to Start and type 'regedit.com' and hit enter. When you're done, just
rename regedit.com back to regedit.exe.
