Opening Outlook attachment HangsTS

All,

Has anyone seen this before or have any advice as to what
I should be monitoring\looking for? I have posted this
before, but didnt get any replies.

Terminal Services on Win2K SP3, Win2K SP3 clients using
Remote Desktop Client.
When a user opens an attachment from within Outlook,
their Outlook freezes and about 10-30 seconds later,
freezes all other sessions. From the server itself - All
sessions are showing as disconnected. When I try to close
down Terminal Services Manager, it too hangs. All other
applications on the desktop will either not close or
launch - the only option is to do a hard reset of the
physical server.

The Event Logs are not showing any errors and this seems
to be occuring at random. They open attachments from
Outlook all the time, but every so often this happens.
They may be lucky and be OK for a day and then the next,
they will freeze 4 or 5 times in a day.

Any ideas\suggestions\help appreciated as we are tearing
our hair out.

Thanks

Hi,

What version of Office are you using and what are the
attachments they are trying to open?

This is obviously not normal behaviour and all I can
think of is that the attachments are associated with a
particularly buggy application(possibly 16-bit) that
occasionally falls over and takes the server with it.

Regards

Daniel.

Hi,

Are you running any 16-bit or particularly quirky
applications? If so, it may be an idea to ask people not
to use it for a day to see if the problems goes away.

Daniel
