opening or importing backups of e-mail

Network administrator backed up all my e-mail before doing some serious work
.. The shortcuts are on desktop but won't open. She tells me to import and
when I try the wizard has far too many choices which I'm not up on - can you
please help ? Thank you, Tia
 
What format are the backups in? Also, are you using Outlook or Outlook
Express? There are different newsgroups for OE.
