Opening new windows in IE

D

Darren

I like to multitask, hence I frequently open new IE
windows. But after I open a new window (say, from a link
on a current website i'm viewing), I continue to read the
older, current IE window. But after the 'new window'
finish loading, it automatically becomes the 'active'
window (pops up and blocks the current IE window that i'm
reading). This gets kinda annoying, so I'm wondering if
there is a way to turn this feature off.

I know that there is a way because in my other system,
when I open a new window, and after it finishes loading,
it doesn't become the active window. I'm using Win98SE and
IE6.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

I have been having the same problem. Has anyone helped you yet? I have heard that it might be due to a Yahoo Companion toolbar. I also heard that if you go to Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced and uncheck the "Relaunch windows for launching shortcuts" box, it helps, but it certainly hasn't helped me.

This is called stealing focus.
go search out 'tweak ui' on the web for a free download
page, not 'tweak manager' you didn't say which os you are
using, so you'll have to find out if there's a tweak ui
prog for your OS. download it and you will find an option
for limiting 'stealing focus'
or you could just click right on a link, open in new
window, and then minimize the new window, even though you
still see the old page through the new window frame until
the new page displays, you can minimize the new window
and that puts the old window back on top.
I'm no expert, but I hope this helps.
