opening .jpg in e-mail

Is it possible to open pics received via e-mail thru an imaging program
instead of thru another internet window? Likewise, if I do "save target as"
into my photo imaging program, it is saved (and reopened) as an html document
instead a .jpg

I would suggest that you save the image files to
a folder on your hard drive. Then open your editing
program and navigate to the folder.

If you have your e-mail reader set to view the
image in the message (which, BTW...is a good way
to get a virus).....you could...try...Copy / Paste.

Example: If you can view an image in your e-mail
message...right click the image and from the menu...
choose...Copy.

Now...lets say you are using the freeware IrfanView.
Open IrfanView and go to...Edit / Paste. This will
diaplay the copied image in IrfanView.

Thanks John for replying - I'm finally back to find answers and I tried what
you suggested. I have two imaging programs (one is Adobe) & neither even
*see* the html document (right clicked e-mail attached .jpg and saved on
desktop). Next I tried to right-click the html document file & chose the
program to open it with. Couldn't open it, as it is "not the right kind of
document".

As for viewing the image in the message, I would very much like to turn that
off - it's annoying. Is that an internet folder option or within the mailbox
personal options (outlook is not my primary mailbox).

Are you using Outlook Express? Try the
following...on your Outlook Express screen
go to...Tools / Options / Read...Check the box,
"Read All Messages In Plain Text" / Apply / OK.

Now go to the message with the image
attachment and select it with your Preview
Pane open. You should see a paper clip
icon on the right side of your screen...
Click it and you will have an option to save
the attachment.

Now go to the folder you saved the image
in and you should be able to view it.

Ok...I guess you are using the
Hotmail website?

When you open the message...
you should see the image? If
you right...click / copy...you should
be able to go to your desktop and
....right click / paste...and then
double left click the image and view
it in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer..

If you prefer not to see the image displayed
in your e-mail message... you can go to...
Options / Mail Display Settings /
Display Internet Content...choose...
Automatically Surpress Internet Content
In Messages / OK.
