Opening file over the network with words all jumbled

I have a user on our network that when she opens a certain Word document it
will have three lines of text that has all of the letters of the line left
justified and all on top of each other. Only those three lines are affected
and they are read only sections of the document. I was able to open and save
the document locally I my PC and the text is normal. What could cause this
type of behavior of a file?
