opening attachments

I have been receiving forwarded attachments and had no trouble opening them
until, a few days ago. I can not open them any more.
They just show as a folder (as before) and could be any type of file. I am
not sure what has changed.
I can open any other attachments such as PDF audio etc when they show up as
a specific file and not in a folder.
Need help

Thanks for this tip. This resolved the problem on one of my machines running
Outlook 2003. Uninstalling Google Desktop resolved this issue.
