Acrobat would not be able to open these..

You apparenty don't have the applications that the attachements are from.
..sea is probably an encrypted attachment (stands for Secure Email
Attachment) and you don't have the encryption utility. Contact the
person who sent you the attachment and ask them what they are using - you
will likely need their public key to open the thing, anyway.

..XLS and .PPT are Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, and you
apparently don't have Microsoft Office installed. You'll need that, or an
equivalent package that can read them, to open the attachments. The
proper install will set the system up.

If, however, you *do* have those installed and the attachments are greyed
out in Outlook Express, in Outlook Express go to Tools, Options, the
Security tab, and de-select "do not allow attachments to be saved or
opened". Click Apply, OK, exit Outlook Express and restart it. You should
now have access to the attachments.

You can get a free file viewer from Microsoft that will open
PowerPoint or Excel files.

sea I don't know - you would need whatever program uses the extension.

XLS is an Excel spreadsheet. ppt is a Powerpoint Presentation. Both
these are components of the Microsoft Office suite, and you would need
to buy that to work with them, but free viewers are available -

Powerpoint Viewer at
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/ppview97.aspx
Excel Viewer at
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/xlviewer.aspx
