Opening attachments in Outlook 2003

Recently, there has been a long delay in double-clicking attachments (MS
Office) to open them while in Outlook. Similarly with clicking web links
/urls in emails to open web pages - anything from 2-3 to 5-6 minutes. I've
generally given up or go off and make a cup a tea! To cancel out of the
request means closing Outlook as a 'non-responsive' action and sending an
error message. Please advise.

Sounds like you have a security suite installed that integrates with Office,
Outlook and Internet Explorer and/or does script scanning as well. Disable
this integration and try again.

To verify it is indeed a 3rd party application causing you this issue, start
Windows in Safe Mode (with network support) and verify that it is working
correctly now.
