OpenGL Drivers

M

Matt Schneider

I cannot play any games requiring OpenGL. I just installed
Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic. I ran its
compatibility scan and it reported that I failed to have
non windows OpenGL drivers. I have just reinstalled the
game, and the drivers themselves. I also reinstalled DX 9.
0b. I still am getting the same error situation with many
games. I was wondering how I could fix this.

TIA for any and all help,
Matt

You need to install drivers from the video card manufacturer. Do not rely
on the XP included drivers.

THat is what I figured. I have just installed ATI Catalyst
3.8 many times over trying to get it to work. Still
nothing.

Anyother Ideas?

What exact video card do you have? From the readme:

"Graphics Card: 32 MB OpenGL 1.4 compatible AGP or PCI 3D
Hardware Accelerator with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T&L)
Capability required."

Also, down around page 12 of the Troubleshooting Guide is a list of
supported and unsupported video chipsets and specific video issues. The 3.8
Catalyst drivers get you the OpenGL drivers, so perhaps something specific
with your card?

I've also read that the 3.8 drivers are troublesome, you may want to try 3.9
which is supposed to be better.
