"Open With" problems.

When I right click on a file, any extension, "Open With" is not shown only
"Open". Clicking the shown "Properties" brings up the "General" tab/ "Open
with" tab from which I can change a files association. But the "Always use
the selected program to open this type of file" is greyed out, which means
that when I re-boot the opening of the file reverts to the original/default
program.

How can I get the "Open With" to appear when I right click? and
How can I get the "Always use the selected program to open this type of
file" to appear without it being greyed out?

Many thanks for any help.

Hi,

When you press "shift" key and then right click on the file you will get the
'Open with' menu. And when you click on this "open with" menu you will see
that the checkbox will be enabled.

Hopefully one of these registry fixes will also take care of the "Always
Use.." option:

220. Restore Open With on the Right Click
241. (r-h column) Restore Choose Program - Open With
