We have to convert many Freelance presentations to Powerpoint2003. The way it
works with PPT2000/PPT2002 does not work with PPT2003 and we don't know why:

- save presentation with freelance as *.PRE
- open *.PRE in PPT2003 and save it as *.PPT

Open *.PRE Files is no option in PPT2003 !

Can anybody help ?

Thanks - Roland

Roland,

Don't quote me on this..... but maybe the PRE filter was not included with powerpoint 2003
Or it's something you have to "pick" at installation time (use a custom installation)
Or maybe the filter was left over from an old installation of powerpoint

I guess you've read this?

If you have a fairly recent version of Freelance, open the presentation there,
save it as a PPT file then open the PPT in PowerPoint.

Office 2000/2002 (ORK) includes document converter kit. With this kit, the
PRE filter gets installed.

Office / ORK 2003 does not include that filter ! Where can I get this
filter ?

Thanks for your answers

[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329820]

Hello,

There are no 3rd party presentation converters included with (or available
from Microsoft) for PowerPoint 2003 for Windows. Until then, our
recommendation is to convert the presentations to a compatible format
(graphics or *.ppt file format) from within the 3rd party presentation
software in order to bring them into PowerPoint (capability and quality
will vary depending on 3rd party software that is being used).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft by either:

PREFERRED METHOD:

A) If you are using Microsoft's web-based, online newsreader for Office
communities (http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx),
click on the "New" drop-down menu and choose "Suggestion for Microsoft"
from directly within the newsreader web page.

OR, NEXT BEST METHOD:

B) If you are using another newsreader (such as Microsoft Outlook Express),
submit your suggestion using your web browser at the following address:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
