Open PowerPoint and Real attachements on incoming mail

I've changed from XP-Home to Vista-Home 6 days ago and I'm really frustrated
to say the least!!
XP was definitely more friendly!
I'm unable to open attachements received on incoming e-mail when asking to
do so!
Have downloaded Real-Player-Plus and Microsoft Office, but rejected the
Outlook Express and
changed to Vista-Mail
Sofar my mailbox incoming is super full as I'm unwilling to erase as long as
I can't see what was sent me.
Please Help

As you've found, Outlook Express won't run under Vista. The replacement
is named Windows Mail.

In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Options, then Read. If there is a
check mark in the box before Read all messages in plain text, click on
this box and then Apply. Click on OK.

It would have been helpful to include the error message you get when
you try to open an attachment. Can you save the attachment, and then
open it by double-clicking on the saved file? he first hurdle is to be
sure you can open files outside of Windows Mail. In fact, that is the
safest way to do it, since some people have done things like opening
a Word document from within Windows Mail, then start editing it,
only to lose all their edits when the temporary file closed.
