Open From Shortcut

If I save a web address as a shortcut to my desktop, when
I try to open from shortcut IE^ tells me ic cannot find
the page. This is true for all pages even ines I know
exist like...WWW.Yahoo.com
Can anyone help?
 
I drag and drop the address within the address bar by
clicking on the far left of the address and droping it on
my desktop.
