open folder

When system is rebooted or first powered on, It opens a
folder instead of showing me the desk top.
I tried closing the folder first and the rebooting, to no
avail.

I imagine there is a setting in the registry, can anyone
tell me how to fix this?

follow these steps

start-->run-->type "msconfig" without quotes-->search for that application & uncheck that option.-->click apply & close
