Open folder on desktop after computer boots???

Whenever I boot up my machine, it finishes booting to the desktop as
it should.......BUT.......the folder system always appears open on my
desktop. I close the folder and then go about my business.

My question is how do I stop this folder from appearing on my desktop
when computer finishes booting??
Thanx for any help.

Steve, a common cause for this is an improper path for a startup item.
Paths of this sort that contain long filenames and/or spaces should be
enclosed in a set of quotation marks. If one or both of those marks is
missing, Windows cannot follow the path to completion. It pops up a
Windows Explorer window open to the folder where it stopped following
the startup item's path.

What you need to do is find that incomplete item and add the missing
quote marks. Places to look:

- If there are shortcuts in your Start Menu's Startup folder, check
their properties. The line you need to be concerned about is titled
"Target."

- MSCONFIG's Startup tab will list startup items. One of the columns
shows the location where the startup call is originating from (registry,
INI file, etc). Go to that location and edit any incomplete paths by
adding the necessary quotes around the path only (if there are
additional quote marks in other parts of the startup command, just leave
those alone).

- System Information also gives a list of startup items. You can use
this instead of or in addition to MSCONFIG. Look under Software
Environment> Startup to see the list.
