Cannot Boot Sony Desktop Computer

C

ColTom2

Hi:

Apparently I have done a dumb thing. I saw some files when I opened
Windows Explorer at the end of Local Disk(C:) that had never seen in this
location before.

I made a new folder on my desktop and cut and pasted these files into it.
One of which was "ntldr" and others as well. Now I cannot get my computer to
boot up and am getting a black screen with the following:
"DR missing"
" ss Ctrl+Alt+Del to Restart"
But when I hit the above I get the same error and cannot boot up.

Hopefully there is a way out of this mess that I have made short of
reformatting.

Thanks,

ColTom

You didn't see them before because they are Protected System files, which
are normally not seen. You must have unchecked the item in Folder Options
called "Hide protected operating System files". It's best to leave that
checked, not only for the obvious reason you encountered, but also because
it causes bothersome errors with certain typical actions (moving or deleting
files and folders, in particular.)

You'll have to boot to the installation CD and use the Recovery Console to
move the files back to where they belong. And remember, next time, to ask
about files BEFORE deleting them.
