Open Folder Association Missing-Error

Strange problem with opening folders. For Instance, I
try to open control panel from the start menu and I get
the message "The file does not have a program associated
with it for performing this action. Create an
association in the Folder Options control panel.

I went to the Folder Options control panel and checked
file types "File Folder" and "Folder". I chose File
Folder and then Advanced. The menu only had a find
command, it was missing the open command I found on other
computers. I tried to add the open command by choosing
new, then browsing for the file, but I do not know what
file to associate this command.

If anyone could help me by telling me how I can set this
back that would be great. The control panel isn't the
only problem, anytime I try to open a folder from
explorer I run into this error. I added the explore
option by adding folder to it, so I can at least
explore. Thanks!

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes, File Association Fixes, Folder
Association Fix. Open the ZIP file and extract the REG file inside. Double
click the REG file and answer Yes to the import prompt. This will restore
the default settings for Folders. REG files can be viewed in Notepad.

Kelly has a tweak at line 256 "restore the control panel".

First, though, you might want to see if you can bring it up via
RUN
control
