Hello friends. I am not sure if I am in the right place
but here goes. I have been sent an excel file but have
windows XP on my laptop and I'm unable to open it.
If you expected Windows XP to include Excel, sorry to tell you
that you're mistaken. Neither it, nor any other version of
Windows, has ever included Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, or
any significant other application software. Such programs have to
be bought, either by themselves or as part of Microsoft Office.
If your previous computer, running an older version of Windows,
came with Excel, it was because the vendor who sold it bundled
Excel as part of the package he sold you, not because that
version of Windows came with Excel.
I
tried windows explorer and quattro pro but it would not
open.
Quattro Pro is, like Excel, a spreadsheet program, and has the
ability to open Excel files. If you have Quattro Pro installed,
it should work. Please explain exactly how you tried to open it
in Quattro Pro, and exactly what happened. If you got an error
message, please quote it verbatim.
Anyone know if it is possible for me to open this
file somehow??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
If all you want to do is view existing Excel spreadsheets, rather
than create them yourself, you don't need a
copy of Excel. You can download a free Excel viewer at
