open earlier saved archive.pst files in outlook 2003

I have a arcive.pst from outlook97 that when trying to open in 2003 returns
an error message syaing its not a personnel file folder can any body help me
please

Have you transferred the .pst file onto your hard drive, made certain that
the "Read Only" attribute is off and tried to open the file with Outlook's
File menu > Open > Outlook Data File command?
 
Yes I have I've even moved it to the default location for outlook and still
get no joy if its any help the file is just over 100MB
