I am a Katrina survivor and lost all my software. I just downloaded
Star Office for 90 day trial to use with my data. All is well but
Access DB files. Can't it. Any sugestions?

Hum, I usually suggest to people that don't have ms-access is to import the
data into Excel...

Excel will import ms-access data, so that is about the best suggestion I
have....

Star Office is *different* from Microsoft Office (and in fact, Access
software is only available in Microsoft Office Professional or higher) so I
wouldn't expect Star Office to be able use Access DB files natively.

Does that database support connectivity to ODBC-compliant databases? If so,
find the ODBC driver for Access.

Otherwise, I suspect you'll need to determine what DB format it can most
easily support, then see if you can find someone to export the tables from
your Access DBs in that form.

If you are looking for "inexpensive", I wonder why you opted for the for-fee
Star Office, rather than the for-free Open Office that is based on a
previous version of Star Office. I don't use either, so can't offer any
comments or comparisons.

Have you contacted Microsoft to see if they can help you? If you registered
your software, not just "activated" it, they probably have a record and
_might_, indeed, have some programs to assist hurricane survivors.

You could try OpenOffice, this will open the DB but you will only have the
tables everything else seems to go missing
