open and use archive data file in outlook

When I use File>Open>Outdata File (not Personal File) I am not able to open
archive file whidh i only 64KB even though I have been archiving to this file
for months using auto archive. I cannot find the data still.

If the file IS only 64 "kb" then you have NOT been archiving anything to
it! That's the size of a small text file only. Have a search for other
pst files and see if there are any others lurking on the system.
 
Thanks, I got no hits when searching for *.pst. With advance search I get the
archive file with only 64KB again. when I follow the chain of Browse with the
archive settings, it leads to this file. Since I have obviously lost all
archive data how do I reset to ensure I am can retrieve later?

I would delete that archive file and start over. Might be an idea also
to archive manually for a bit instead of using the auto facility.
Next time you archive, check the size of the Archive file afterwards,
and back it up regularly. (Just like you are doing with your Personal
Folder file)!
