open an Access 97 file with Access 03

I tried the website suggested method of opening an Access 97 file with Access
2003 and still cannot. don't want to convert it as it is a shared file with
some users using Access 97. Help!

It would help to know what website, or at least what it said...

The normal advice is to split the application into two: a front-end
containing the queries, forms, reports, macros and modules, and a back-end
containing the tables. The back-end should remain in Access 97 format, while
you should have 2 versions of the front-end (one in Access 97 and one in
Access 2003). Each user should have his/her own copy of the appropriate
version of the front-end.
