Access 2003 Table copy-paste

I have a network system with 3 computers with Windows XP Pro and Office 2003
Pro. One system is brand new. I upgraded Office 97 on the other two systems
with Office 2003 Pro. I use a Access database, converted from Office 97 to
2003. The database is shared.
Problem number 1: The only time all three systems can share the database is
if the new system opens the database first, then all three can share it. If
one of the other systems opens the database first, the other two cannot open
it. In Tools, Options and Advanced tab, sharing is selected as it was in
Office 97.
Problem number 2: In the database, there is a table that has 7 columns, one
is formatted for Short date, two have drop downs to select a name in one and
a rate for currency in another, the others are text and one formatted for
check box, one for a number, and a Total for currency. Previously in Office
97 the user could copy a range of records and paste them to new records at
the end of the table. Now with Office 2003, this is not possible. We get an
error concerning the date and other various errors, and cannot paste the
information. This occurs on any of the three systems.
Could a Access guru give me some suggestions?
Thanks.

1. Is this a split database?
2. Does it give them the option to open 'Read-Only'?

I would also suggest making sure Track Name AutoCorrect info is unchecked.
That just creates all kind of issues.

3. You could use an append query but I find it curious you can't do this, so
what exactly are some of the error messages?

Bob,

Are you saying you can't answer the questions below? Did you create the
database to which you refer?
