When receiving an e-mail with a jpeg attached, when I open the jpeg it opens
with in Word, I want it to open with Outlook.
Please can someone advise as to what setting needs changing to achieve this
Thanks

Jpg-files are not to be opened with Outlook or Word. Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer, Live Photo Gallery, Office Picture Manager or a 3rd party
application like IrfanView are the correct applications.

Either way; Outlook is not responsible for with which application an
attachment is opened; Windows is.

Ok, understood, Windows Picture and Fax viewer is specified in Windows, and
that is how all jpeg attachments used to open within Outlook, but a setting
has changed some how (within Outlook?) and now all jpeg attachments as soon
as they are double clicked open with Word, this is the problem.

kemy600,
Close Outlook> Find an Image (*.jpg) file on your computer> Right click the
File>Select "Open With..."> Check the box to always Use this Program when
opening file> Select Photo program that you want to use> Press Apply/OK.

Now restart Outlook, find a message with a photo attachment> Double-click
file and see if the Photo Program that you selected, will open the Image
file now. Somehow MS Word was selected to deal with Image files, either when
you created a Word document recently and inserted a photo, or when you open
a Word document, that had an image file inserted in it.
