Ooops... can't import .pst - Please help save my marriage!

Well now I've done it. I've just formatted my wifes hard drive and now I've
got problems. Before formatting I made a copy of her important files i.e.
"My Documents" and her precious .pst file for Outlook 2003. The "My
Documents" files came back perfectly. The .pst did not.

Here is what I've tried: I opened Outlook 2003 on her new hard drive and it
started up fine with all the defaults. I then went to import and tried to
import the old .pst file. I received the following dialog box "The file
S:\Diane's Outlook BU\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file."

HELP... I've run scanpst.exe and tried every trick I know. I probably
"should" have exported the original .pst file, but I didn't I simply copied
it to a back up folder.

Any ideas?

Check the properties of that file and make sure it's not set to read-only.
Also, don't import or you will lose rules, custom views, etc. Instead, use
File | Open | Outlook Data File.

Sue,

I followed your suggestions but it still gave me the "Outlook.pst in not a
personal folders file."

Help!!!! My wife is a United Methodist Pastor and her entire life is in that
file! Any other ideas, suggestions, etc.

Thanks in advance...

Is drive S local to her machine? IF not, then copy the .pst file to her
local hard drive.
