Only one User!!

After some updates, now I have to click on my name when I start my computer.
I am the only person using my home computer. I would like to get rid of this
screen so that windows just starts up without logging in or choosing my name
or anything. How can I do this? I checked all over the internet and can
only seem to find how to get a box instead of that screen. Also, is ther a
way to remove all users and just have an administrator since I am the only
person using the computer? I checked in the control panel and it says I
have, Administrator (me), Guest (it's inactive), and a user called ASP.NET
Machine A (what is that?) do I need all of these, can I get rid of all of
them, thanks for any help.

Dear rhdins,

Click on Start / Run and enter control userpasswords2 In the box
that pops up, untick the "Users must enter a username and password to
use this computer check box".

Make sure all accounts have NO password.

Hope that helps.

Plus, you will need to use the Administrator account now. Not your
account.

There are other options. Google for "Auto Logon XP"

If by Administrator you mean the built-in Administrator account, then BE
WARNED.

Please be aware that it is VERY BAD PRACTICE to use the built-in
Administrator account on a day-to-day basis and as your only account on the
computer. If the account gets corrupted, as it may well do, then your ONLY
way into the machine is by doing a repair install of XP. set up a User
account and give that Admin rights for daily use, leaving the built-in
Administrator account for emergency access only.

I tried that, after I unchecked "Users must enter username..." box and hit
ok, it asked me for my password, well, I haven't set up any password, so I
just hit ok, it exited out, but when I restarted windows I got a error
message saying it had a problem logging me in. It still started windows, but
I dont want to see some error message every time I log in.

By Administrator, I mean my account that it set up when I installed XP. It
asked for my name, and wouldn't let me leave it blank, so I entered my name
and now there is a user account for me that is the administrator, a guest
user account that I'm guessing windows sets up by default, and there is an
ASP.NET user, I didn't set that up, is that a windows default? did it set
that up when I installed the updates for .NET? So what you are saying is
that I should set up another user account for myself, give my account
administrator rights, and not use the default admin account that windows set
up?

The user account with admin rights is fine - quite often people just use the
Administrator account as their account , especially in XP Home.
What you have done (presumably you have Pro) is fine and you can continie to
use that.

What accounts and what type are showing in Control Panel-User accounts?

I have XP Home, got a new hard drive and installed it yesterday. I let
automatic updates run and after all of the updates, I get the login screen,
it didn't ask for my password, I just had to click my name (which is what I'm
trying to get rid of). So I check in the control panel and I have 3 user
accounts

When I installed XP it made me type in my name, hence the Ross user. The
other two I don't know about, I haven't deleted them, just because I wasn't
sure some program or part of windows needed them.

Just to make things more complicated, can I get rid of my user path in
documents and settings and have just all users? sometimes I have made changes
to the start menu, and I have to do them twice, once in all users and once in
my user account.

That sounds fine - just to be on the safe side, if you boot into Safe Mode,
do you get an account called Administrator showing on the welcome screen?
