Only Morons.....

I haven't downloaded it yet...I just sit here and feel sorry for many people
who have and now have major problems.....

How do you feel about the majority who 'have' and 'have' no problems,
'major' or 'minor'?

It is only irrelevant to you.
To those interested in success, the success and failure are very
relevant, especially the differences that may be part of the cause of
failure.
Learning the differences between success and failure can help you find
the cause and take steps to remove that cause from your situation.

The cause of success and failure is of interest to all desiring SP-2
or many other things.
Instead of ignoring the successes as irrelevant, perhaps you should
look at them to see if you can find a solution for your own issues or
those of your clients?

Out of roughly 70 or so computers I have put it on, I have encountered one
MAJOR problem. The reason for that problem is the HD had a sector error that
hadn't been identified to that point so when installation was about half way
through and encountered that error, the error caused a crash which basically
stuffed the whole XP on the computer. It wasn't a problem of XPSP2 though.

I feel sorry for people believing people like you!

Charlie;
Take another look at your reference and the source of the data.
Do not forget to take into account that those with no issues are not
as likely to perform searches that will lead to such a site.
Can you provide a reliable source for the data?

You do your argument no good by spouting falsehoods, the actual figure
is somewhere around around 50% with 23% trashed systems, see:
http://isc.sans.org/xpsp2.php
Those are biassed stats. People who do not have problems are unlikely
to visit such a site. It's interesting that even so, over 40% of
posters had no problems.

If I were to add my stats to that page I would record 9 good installs
out of 9.

Cheers,

Cliff

If you mean "install SP2 it will fix your PC" that's going too far. A
screwy PC before SP2 is likely to result in a screwy PC after SP2.

If the machine is fine, then SP2 will likely go on with no problems.

Cheers,

Cliff

These so called 'statistics' are meaningless. What is the sample size
compared to the total installed? Clearly the sample size represents a
very small percentage of the installed base and that sample is itself
'skewed'.

....and, it's only people who knew to post to that web site.
